The "father" has a much more sinister relationship with Eli but, yes, Oskar has been specifically chosen to be Eli's new companion because of previously exhibited character traits.Dr Bloodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17904860037603156527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-10739434668316681832010-10-27T06:46:25.223-07:002010-10-27T06:46:25.223-07:00It's definitely a bittersweet ending. While they seemed happy at that moment in time (even though we couldn't see Eli, they were communicating through tapping), I also thought that Oskar would just wind up being the man we saw earlier in the film who posed as Eli's father. It's interesting because the film never goes into detail about when the other man started killing for Eli. Maybe she'll only ask Oskar to do it once he's a stronger adult?Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08400880202232098855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-29878972901630855502010-10-24T16:51:01.657-07:002010-10-24T16:51:01.657-07:00Yes, there is a tragedy to the relationship betwee...Yes, there is a tragedy to the relationship between these two oddball characters.

What are your thoughts on the ending however? While there is a 'sort of' happy tone to the scene in which Oskar and Eli (hidden in a box) are riding the train, I couldn't help but feel as if Oskar is doomed to become Eli new adoptive father, hunting down the innocent to satisfy his friend's thirst. Again, there is the good (they stay together) and the grisly (the full-time killer job that is most likely awaiting Oskar).edgarchaputhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03874108948902089501noreply@blogger.com
