We don't know much about the "love of his life" (Clemence Poesy) ...only that their relationship and breakup obviously had a profound effect on him (especially the emphasis placed on her line ..."You will be so lonely").

As for movies I'm looking forward to: The King's Speech, True Grit and Black Swan are three big ones.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08400880202232098855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-44670898478576675742010-11-18T21:36:52.098-08:002010-11-18T21:36:52.098-08:00I definitely agree with a lot of this. James Franco (who I love) acted the hell out of this and sold it really well. I do think they could have done a better job with the flashbacks in getting me to care more about the character and maybe add more deeper meaning to the story but I do think the heart of the movie and the importance of that connection (even though connecting to nature alone is wonderful too) came through really well. I also thought the beginning, after the cool beginning was over was a bit slow but that's my problem with a lot of movies. I did enjoy it though.

I'd always love to hear any recommendations of movies coming out in the next month or so I should definitely watch! Besides Harry Potter, already on the list ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-17012507758030234542010-11-16T20:14:46.629-08:002010-11-16T20:14:46.629-08:00Mad Hatter: Yeah, I know what you mean about Franc...Mad Hatter: Yeah, I know what you mean about Franco. A few short years ago I wouldn't have believed you if you'd told me he was in the running for the Best Actor Oscar. If he sticks to these smaller films, he'll be alright. Unfortunately, I hear he's filming a prequel to Planet of the Apes ...?!?!?!

Yong: Looking forward to your review when you do!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08400880202232098855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-23611034623248949402010-11-14T19:52:46.187-08:002010-11-14T19:52:46.187-08:00I'm looking forward to checking this one out a...I'm looking forward to checking this one out as well.Yonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11273209300482392538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6170443308250983581.post-76020574421059817362010-11-14T15:56:27.182-08:002010-11-14T15:56:27.182-08:00Sweet - glad to hear you dug this film as it's...Sweet - glad to hear you dug this film as it's shaping to be one of my very favorites of the year. I'm still surprised by Franco's work, and hope the guy can parlay this into a bit of a run of better films.

Great review!Ryan McNeilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00440134802928893661noreply@blogger.com
